Japanese Skincare to the Test!

by - Wednesday, February 26, 2025

One of the most famous countries on Asia is Japan, along with China and Korea. Its culture, landscapes, gastronomy, and recently its beauty products, and tools. Thanks to content creators, Japanese skincare products have been acquiring more fame, allowing people from different countries to discover new brands that go beyond Shiseido, Bioré, or Kanebo.

Even if I have always loved Asian countries, curious about its culture, their beauty products were something I didn’t pay attention to, until I started consuming the social media content of various Japanese beauty and fashion influencers like, Tina Tanaka Harris and Cozue Ninomiya; or those from other countries who went to live in Japan like  Anshin Doyle (Spanish content creator); and just like that, in an instant, my whole world changed, and I began to open myself up to Japanese beauty products, specially Japanese skincare products, discovering how completely different are their skincare routine and products from Korean and Chinese ones.

SANA Soy Milk Moisturizing Face Wash, by NAMERAKA HONPO.

I think that, after The Saem cleansing foams (Natural Condition line), this is the best facial cleanser I have currently tried. It has a very rich formula, which is also emollient, and eliminates impurities without drying out the skin. Various brands on the market indeed have products with the same concept, with innovative and interesting formulas, such as CeraVe, but until now, I have never tried a formula that is so soft, emollient, and rich, as well as effective.

NATURIE Hatomugi Skin Conditioning, by KUMANO COSME.

Now I understand why it is such a famous product in Japan, being the first skincare product I discovered from the brand. It has a light formula, which on the one hand is light and easily absorbed by the skin like a toner, and on the other hand, hydrates and conditions the skin like an essence.

It is truly incredible how such a light product can provide such an amount of hydration in a single step, awakening the skin and preparing it for the next step.

NATURIE Hatomugi Cleansing Oil, by KUMANO COSME.

Emollient cleansing oil, which effectively removes impurities and makeup, with an enveloping texture on the skin. It has a slightly rich formula, which makes the cleaning process from the beginning (when it comes in contact with the skin) to the end (when emulsifying the product with water), highly pleasant. It does not dry out the skin and also eliminates blackheads (even those on the tip of the nose).

UV Perfect Gel Face moisturizer 50+ PA++++, by HADA LABO.

Very moisturizing, with a light texture, which does not leave white residue on the skin, making it compatible with all skin tones, even the darkest (black skin). Although highly moisturizing and non-greasy, I do not recommend applying it to the eyes, or near the eyes, especially if they are highly sensitive, as it can be irritating (causes itching).

Grace One All-in-one Deep Perfect Repair Gel Cream EX, by KOSÉ.

This moisturizer creates an enveloping layer on the skin, which keeps the skin hydrated all night. However, although its texture may initially be scary due to its density, it blends perfectly with the skin, protecting it from external aggressions. It deeply moisturizes the skin, nourishing it, and progressively repairing it, however, I cannot speak about its effect on wrinkles, since, luckily, I do not have wrinkles.
